Sparked off by a striking view from atop a
waterfall crashing into a steep valley.
This was in many ways the most demanding painting I’ve ever plunged into, and hence the most rewarding. The first to be made in this series, it laid down an internal benchmark for all the works that were to follow. While striving for a
convincing realism, the intention was also to exalt every hint of every hue that
found itself on the scene, even if that meant imbuing the scene with an impossibly
psychedelic atmosphere. Which is perhaps why it may seem like an “ abstract’’ at a
cursory glance, unveiling its true charm only to the ardent viewer.
